London, Monday 4 November: The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) today announced that HRH The Duke of Cambridge, President of BAFTA, will visit BAFTA’s headquarters in London on Monday 18 November for the launch of a new campaign to support young people from all backgrounds to enter the film, television and games industries.
The BAFTA ‘Give Something Back’ campaign will call on BAFTA members, award winners and industry organisations to contribute towards BAFTA’s charitable activities that share the knowledge and expertise of industry practitioners with new and emerging talent. These initiatives include mentoring, scholarships, guest lectures and summer work placements.
During his visit, The Duke will hear from a number of beneficiaries of BAFTA initiatives before giving a speech to formally launch the ‘Give Something Back’ campaign. The Duke will also meet students from London secondary schools taking part in a games design workshop with games professionals from leading UK-based studios. The workshop marks the re-launch of the BAFTA Young Game Designers initiative, which includes an annual competition and uses workshops and online resources to give an insight into the craft of game creation whilst raising awareness of the careers available in the sector.

The Duke is a generous supporter of BAFTA’s work to enable talented young people, regardless of background, to succeed in our industries. This includes giving his name to the Prince William Scholarships in Film, Television and Games, supported by BAFTA and Warner Bros., which were awarded for the first time earlier this year.”
