Tyrell is a passionate storyteller whose platforms span across fiction, film, television, theatre and poetry. He graduated from Middlesex University with a first-class degree in Creative Writing and Journalism.
Shortly afterwards, he co-created, co-wrote and directed a viral web series, #HoodDocumentary. The exploits of RS (aka Roll Safe, aka Reece Simpson to his mum and dad) exploded on YouTube, earning Tyrell huge acclaim. A year later, the show was commissioned by BBC Three for more episodes, which were produced by Fudge Park (Iain Morris and Damon Beesley’s company) and aired in 2016.
Tyrell recently took part in the Young Harts Writing Festival at the Lyric Hammersmith, winning the title of Audience Favourite. He also assistant directed at such venerated theatres as the Young Vic and The Gate Theatre.
Tyrell’s new play, Red Pitch, will debut at the Ovalhouse in the summer of 2019 as part of its First Bites season.
