Karrie Shirou Shao

Game Writer, Lead Designer

Karrie Shirou Shao is the lead narrative designer and lead writer on Pacific Drive, a 2024 Top 10 Best Selling Game on Steam. Her writing was praised as “funny and compelling” by GamesRadar, “exquisite” by ScreenRant, and “heartful” by DreadCentral. Pacific Drive is an official entry on the Nebula 2024 Reading List for Best Games Writing, and nominated for Narrative/Story-Telling in the TIGA Games Industry Awards 2024.

She started her career as one of the first women to write and produce at Riot Games on League of Legends, contributing to champions including Lux, Sona, Talon, and Trundle. She went on to launch over 50 titles in a collection of roles: narrative designer, writer, editor (Per Aspera, Not Tonight 2, Totemic), producer (Hello Neighbor, Streets of Rogue), marketing & communications director (Space Channel 5 VR, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Terra Battle 2), and event producer (Psychonauts 2, Sayonara Wild Hearts), and more.
