Elizabeth is Missing receives four nominations
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts in Scotland (BAFTA Scotland) has today announced the nominations for the British Academy Scotland Awards in 2020, honouring the very best talent in film, games and television produced in Scotland over the last year.
The highlights from today’s BAFTA Scotland nominations include:
- Five nominations for Guilt (plus nomination in Audience Award)
- Four nominations for Elizabeth is Missing
- First time nominees include Lois Chimimba (Group) Mirren Mack (The Nest) Jamie Sives (Guilt)
- Black and Scottish, Guilt, Murder Trial: The Disappearance of Margaret Fleming, The Nest, Outlander and River City are nominated for the new Audience Award, the only award voted for by the public, in partnership with Screen Scotland
The Awards, which include two Outstanding Contribution Awards and the new Audience Award, will be presented at the digital ceremony on Tuesday 8 December. Edith Bowman will host a socially distant, closed-studio show alongside Sanjeev Kohli and other guest presenters. The ceremony will be live streamed from 19.00 GMT on BAFTA’s Facebook and YouTube channels and followed by a highlights show on BBC Scotland at 22.00 GMT.
This year, BAFTA Scotland is delighted to announce a new Audience Award, in partnership with Screen Scotland. The award will give the public the opportunity to vote for their favourite TV programme of the past year. The Audience Award nominations are: Black and Scottish, Guilt, Murder Trial: The Disappearance of Margaret Fleming, The Nest, Outlander and River City. Members of the public can cast their vote from 10.00 GMT on 21 October until 17.00 GMT on 18 November on the BAFTA Scotland website (bafta.org/scotland/2020-bafta-scotland-audience-award).

Nominations are correct at the time of going to print. BAFTA reserves the right to make changes to the names listed at any time up until 8 December 2020. The Outstanding Contribution Awards will be announced on 4 November.

In light of changes in eligibility and the impact of cinema closures due to covid-19, the BAFTA Scotland Awards Committee came to the decision not to run the Feature Film or film performance categories this year. These categories will return next year and will be open to entrants eligible in both years.
BAFTA Scotland Audience Award in partnership with Screen Scotland
All television programmes submitted in the 2020 Awards are eligible for the Audience Award, a specialist jury shortlisted the final six nominees which will be voted on by the public.
