Nominations for the 2026 BAFTA Scotland Awards announced

Today, BAFTA Scotland announces the full list of nominations for the annual BAFTA Scotland Awards, celebrating excellence in broadcasting and production across film and television in Scotland.

The winners will be revealed on Sunday 15 November in Glasgow, at a ceremony hosted by Edith Bowman. Coverage will be available on BAFTA’s YouTube channel and social platforms. A total of 41 programmes and films received nominations today.

The top nominated films/programmes are:

  • I Swear received seven nominations, plus a previously announced Audience Award nomination for Peter Mullan.
  • Dept. Q and Dinosaur each received three nominations, with Dept. Q’s Leah Byrne also receiving an Audience Award nomination.
  • Disaster at Sea: The Piper Alpha Story, Everybody to Kenmure Street, and Midwinter Break all received two nominations each

The performance categories feature first-time BAFTA Scotland nominees Robert Aramayo (I Swear), Scott Ellis Watson (I Swear), Lesley Manville (Midwinter Break), Chloe Pirrie (Dept. Q) and Emma Laird (Mint).

Previous BAFTA Scotland Award winner Lucy Halliday is a double nominee in both the Actress Film and Actress Television categories for her work in California Schemin’ and The Testaments respectively. All four nominees in the Actor Television category; Dougray Scott (Summerwater), Jack Lowden (Slow Horses), Peter Capaldi (Criminal Record) and Robert Carlyle (The Hack), are previous BAFTA Scotland award winners.

Nominations for the 14 competitive categories were determined through a combination of membership voting and dedicated juries comprised of industry professionals with relevant craft expertise.

Nominees for the BAFTA Scotland Audience Award (in partnership with Screen Scotland) were previously announced on Thursday 24 September. The Audience Award is the only BAFTA Scotland Award where the winner is decided by the public. The nominees are Julie Wilson Nimmo (Balamory), Katie Leung (Bridgerton), Leah Byrne (Dept. Q), Ncuti Gatwa (Doctor Who), Peter Mullan (I Swear) and Stephen Libby (The Traitors). Members of the public can vote now for their favourite Scot on Screen from the six nominated individuals until Friday 30 October via bafta.org.

The BAFTA Special Award, one of the academy’s highest honours recognising an outstanding contribution to film, games or television, will be presented at the BAFTA Scotland Awards ceremony with the recipients to be announced ahead of the ceremony.
