A Japanese actress whose career began in 1934 as a radio singer, Yamaguchi’s early roles courted controversy as she depicted Chinese women falling for occupational Japanese forces. Her notable credits included Eternity (1942), Desertion At Dawn (1950) and Kurosawa’s Scandal (1950) before moving into television journalism.
