A British actor who was best known for playing one half of The Likely Lads, Bewes played the well-intentioned Bob Ferris in the original sitcom (1964-1966), Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? (1973-1974) and its big screen version (1976). His other screen highlights included Billy Liar (1963) and the sitcom he created, Albert! (1969-1972).
