Luigi Comencini

Director
7 June 1916 to 5 April 2007

An Italian filmmaker adept across a range of genres, Comencini's first big hit was Pane, Amore e Fantasia (1953). Long time collaborations with comedians Toto and Alberto Sordi followed, but his greatest successes were in stories that evoked poignant aspects of childhood; Incompreso (1967) and Le Avventure di Pinocchio (1971).
