A British actor, who became a recognisable face on UK television screens due to his role as PC Newcombe in Z Cars (1967-1971), featuring in more than 250 episodes of the popular police drama. He was a regular on British television for the next 40 or so years, with notable roles in Please, Sir! (1971-71), A Question of Guilt (1980), The Gentle Touch (1982-1984), Now and Then (1983-1984), Eureka (1982-1986) and many more guest roles. He was also a regular returner on Jackanory, making 47 appearances as the storyteller across 1974-1991.
