Max Solomon is awarded the BAFTA Scholarship to support his continued studies in MA Sound & Music for Interactive Games at Leeds Beckett University. Max was born in Beverley, East Yorkshire before moving around the North of England before settling in Sheffield. Max has always been captivated by music. His earliest and most significant influence was witnessing the cultural movement of the Jungle-Techno and Rave scene during the early 90s at free parties and festivals like Glastonbury ’94. He was always surrounded by an eclectic selection of music being played by his family and heard within the different environments he experienced as a child.

Despite having to leave school early with one GCSE, he received an unconditional offer to study Ethnomusicology at SOAS University. This deepened his love and understanding for music and sound as a global art form. Max also has a passion for working with the Roma community, as he has French Roma (Sinti) ancestry on his Mum’s side. He feels his heritage has fostered a sense of motivation and connection within him to celebrate GRT history and culture in the work that he does, and the music and art that he creates.
