Laura Gilbert is a highly experienced senior producer specialising in observational documentaries, with a particular background in access, factual and development. She started her career 17 years ago as a runner on Gladiators, working in London where she stayed for 11 years before returning to Glasgow in 2019.
Laura is known for her ability to gain access to sensitive environments, including the likes of trauma teams in NHS Scotland, the Met Police’s firearms unit, murder investigation teams and trident drug squads, schools and other difficult to reach organisations. As a producer she has worked on a variety of popular TV series, including 24 Hours in A&E (Channel 4, 2012-2015), 24 Hours in Police Custody (Channel 4, 2015), The Met: Policing London (BBC One, 2016), Married at First Sight (Channel 4, 2014), Rescue Extreme Medics (Channel 4, 2022-2023) and Highland Cops (BBC Scotland, 2023-2024).
Laura combines her skill in building and maintaining relationships, including finding interesting people with a story to tell, to craft compelling and engrossing narratives with wide appeal. She is a born problem solver, with extensive experience working in challenging editorial environments and rapidly changing, high-risk and legally complex situations, allowing her to bring even the most difficult stories to our screens.
She is currently working as a series producer on an access-led documentary series for Blast! Films.
