Harjeet Chhokar has more than 20 years’ experience in TV, working extensively across non-scripted programming as a producer and commissioner. Currently, he’s an unscripted development executive at Amazon MGM Studios, working with UK production companies to develop, greenlight and deliver content for Prime Video. Since joining the streamer in November 2021, he has worked across the unscripted spectrum, including the BAFTA Scotland-winning Three Mothers, Two Babies and a Scandal (2022), 007: Road to a Million (2023) and Clarkson’s Farm (seasons two to four, 2023-present), and he is across the sport documentaries slate, including All or Nothing: Arsenal (2022), Ronnie O’Sullivan: The Edge of Everything (2023) and the Broadcast Sport award-winning Sven (2024).
Previously, Harjeet was in the Channel 4 Factual Commissioning team, where he worked on the likes of 999: On the Frontline (2017-), Murder Island (2021) and Sex Actually with Alice Levine (2021-2023). Before his move into commissioning, he worked in production for more than 17 years, starting out as a BBC Production trainee and working his way up to series producer, working on everything from Jamie’s Dream School (2010) to The Secret Life of 5 Years Olds (2016) and Ambulance (2018-2019).
Harjeet is a passionate industry advocate and champion of the medium as a cultural force. He believes in developing and nurturing the next generation of talent, especially those from historically underrepresented groups. He mentors a number of upcoming talent and believes that they are the key to the industry evolving and developing. He was selected to be advisory chair to the Edinburgh TV Festival in 2024.
