A British actress of stage and screen, who originally made a name for herself opposite Cliff Richard and the Shadows in the films Summer Holiday (1963) and Swingers’ Paradise (1964). She went on to land starring roles in such popular series as Till Death Us Do Part (1966-1975) and Worzel Gummidge (1979-1981) and as a team captain on Give Us a Clue (1979-1985). More latterly, she enjoyed success as Miss Bat in The Worst Witch (1998-2000) and Mrs Hudson in Sherlock (2010-2017).
