An American marketing and distribution executive, Sherak spent 17 years working at 20th Century Fox, eventually becoming Chairman of the studio’s domestic film group. In 2000 he left to join upstart Revolution Studios, and then served three consecutive terms as Chairman of The Academy where one of his major innovations was to expand the size of the Best Picture field.
