A British actress, who came to prominence with four outstanding film performances in one year, namely Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, The Entertainer, Peeping Tom and Beat Girl (all 1960). Other notable film work included The War Lover (1962), Kings of the Sun (1963), Alfie (1966), My Beautiful Laundrette (1985) and Hear My Song (1991). Shirley Anne Field’s small screen roles included Buccaneer (1980), Santa Barbara (1987), Lady Chatterley (1993) and Where the Heart Is (2001).
