Michael Houldey

A British television director and producer, who worked as freelance throughout his career, predominantly on documentaries. Michael Houldey’s films were televised as part of such factual series as Omnibus, This Week, Extraordinary People, Forty Minutes, Q.E.D., Panorama and Brave New World. He initially trained as an assistant film editor at the BBC before moving to produce and direct. He was BAFTA nominated three times, for the Omnibus episodes ‘I Regret Nothing’ (1971) and ‘The Bolshoi Ballet’ (1987) and then for Sondheim on Broadway – Follies: Four Days in New York (1987). Other notable director and/or producer credits include Out of Love (1988), Great Journeys (1989), Harrow: The School on the Hill (2001), My Holiday Hostage Hell (2007) and My Beautiful Broken Brain (2014).
