After initial success in the theatre, Leonard turned his talents to writing for television. His varied output includes the sitcom Me Mammy (1968-71), adaptations of several literary classics, popular series such as The Irish RM (1983) and films including Da (1988) - taken from his own play - and Widow’s Peak (1994).
