A journeyman director of some versatility, Fleischer - son of legendary cartoonist Max - worked his way up through RKO 'B' movies, the best of which was Narrow Margin (1952). Careers highs came with 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea (1954), The Vikings (1958), Compulsion (1959), Fantastic Voyage (1966) and Soylent Green (1973).
