An American puppeteer best known for his work on Sesame Street (1969-2018), Spinney was the whole-body puppeteer who portrayed both Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch. Beyond his 50-year stint on the beloved show, he also brought the characters to the big screen in films including The Muppet Movie (1979) and The Great Muppet Caper (1981).
