A thoughtful and thought-provoking writer, England wrote the novel Figures in a Landscape, which Joseph Losey filmed in 1970, and the play Conduct Unbecoming which reached the big screen in 1975. He also wrote extensively for television, specialising in single drama, for ITV’s influential Play of the Week strand.
