A British comedian, writer and occasional actor, Barry Cryer was a familiar face on British television for more than 60 years. Starting out as a gag writer on The Frost Report (1966-1967), Cryer went on to write (often with a partner) for and appear alongside many of the major comedians on British television, including Tommy Cooper, Morecambe and Wise, Stanley Baxter, the Two Ronnies, Les Dawson, Kenny Everett, Bob Monkhouse, Russ Abbot and many more. In front of the camera, Cryer appeared on many a game and chat show, fronting four seasons of his own show, Cryer’s Crackers (1994-1996). He was appointed an OBE in 2001.
