The winners of the 34th BAFTA Cymru Awards have been announced this evening at a special ceremony at the ICC Wales in Newport, hosted by Welsh TV presenter Owain Wyn Evans. The BAFTA Cymru Awards are the biggest annual celebration of creative excellence across film and television in Wales.
Lost Boys and Fairies receive five awards including Television Drama. Sion Daniel Young wins for Actor, Danielle Palmer for Editing, Daf James for Writer and James Kent for Director Fiction.
The Golden Cobra wins the Entertainment Programme award with writers Adam Llewellyn, James Prygodzicz, and Thomas Rees also winning the Breakthrough Cymru award.
Feature film, Mr Burton takes home two awards with the Sound Team winning the Sound award and Stuart Biddlecombe winning the Photography and Lighting: Fiction award.
Anna Maxwell Martin won her first BAFTA Cymru award for Actress for her performance in Until I Kill You. Joining first-time winners is Daf James, who received the Writer award for Lost Boys and Fairies and Bethan Rhys Roberts for Presenter.
Marw gyda Kris won Factual Series and Helmand: Tour of Duty received the Single Documentary award.
The Short Film category was won by Mauled by a Dog, and the Children’s Programme went to Deian a Loli, which marks the fourth win for the series since 2017.
Writer, show runner and producer, Russell T Davies OBE was awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award, one of BAFTA’s highest honours, and was presented by actress, Ruth Madeley. Further details, as previously announced, can be found here.
Presenter Jason Mohammad awarded journalist Bethan Rhys Roberts with the Siân Phillips Award. Further information about this award, can be found here.
In total, 17 competitive awards in total were presented across the evening as well as two BAFTA Special Awards.
