A horticulturalist who communicated his enthusiasm and knowledge for his subjects through a range of media, Smith was best-known to television viewers for his time presenting Gardener’s World (1980-82). He also fronted series such as Mr Smith’s Vegetable Garden (1976), and Geoffrey Smith’s World of Flowers (1983-84) among many others.
