The surviving members of the Monty Python team received the Academy's Special Award at a unique reunion event in New York on 15 October 2009.

BAFTAThe event, co-hosted with IFC (Independent Film Channel), celebrated the 40th anniversary of the creation of the Monty Python comedy team. John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin were all in attendance to receive the Award in honour of their outstanding contribution to film and television from BAFTA Chairman, David Parfitt.
The team went onto answer questions submitted from the audience and, amidst much good humour, John Cleese revealed his 'true' feelings for Michael Palin: "I have never fancied Michael Palin. I find him physically repellent."
The BAFTA website is the only place in the UK where you can view footage of this exclusive event, which will be appearing here soon. Find out how you can identify the writing team behind a Python sketch, which current comedy shows the team admire and what is Michael Palin’s biggest regret.
