Raised in both Nigeria and the UK, Beko Wood is awarded the BAFTA Reuben Scholarship, which will support him during his graduating year at LAMDA, where he is pursuing an MFA in Professional Acting.

“I am incredibly grateful to have been awarded the BAFTA scholarship. The support from BAFTA is a tremendous encouragement. I worked tirelessly to cover my first-year costs, and now I have the space to fully embrace the opportunities of my MFA.”

Beko graduated from Warwick University in 2021 with a degree in Law. However, before completing his studies, he decided to follow his long-standing passion for acting. The Coventry City of Culture celebrations provided the perfect backdrop for his debut, as he performed in a project organized by the Belgrade Theatre. Since then, he has continued to work in theatre and engage in various youth projects across London. His successful audition for LAMDA marked a pivotal step in his journey to refine his craft and enhance his career prospects.

Believing in the power of storytelling to foster understanding and drive positive change, Beko is eager to explore his Yoruba heritage through his work. He recognizes the importance of sharing diverse narratives within the UK and sees the BAFTA scholarship as a remarkable validation of his vision. He looks forward to the mentorship and other opportunities he will received along the way.
