JOE PLOMIN: Thank you, BAFTA.  We’re honoured.  Indeed, genuinely shocked.  It’s such a strong category, particularly this year, and our film is challenging, sometimes a harrowing look at the experience of the most voiceless people in our society, immigrants, in one of the most ignored spaces, detention centres, where they’re held shortly before their removal from this country.

Now, there are people in detention centres where it is shocking that we as a society struggle to remove them.

None of this would have been revealed without an extraordinary 22-year-old man.  At just 19 years old, he contacted BBC Panorama and he spent 14 months as a whistle-blower, telling us what was going on, before putting secret cameras on himself for months inside a prison-like environment to expose what happens.

Callum, tonight belongs to you.
