London, 30 January 2014: The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced that the multi-platinum-selling artist Tinie Tempah and Mercury Prize nominee Laura Mvula will duet in a performance to open the EE British Academy Film Awards on Sunday 16 February. The two artists have collaborated on the track entitled Heroes, which features on Tinie’s album Demonstration, and this performance will see them follow in the footsteps of the legendary Tom Jones and multi-Brit Award nominee, Paloma Faith, by performing at the ceremony.

Tinie Tempah said: “I’m extremely excited to be opening the EE British Academy Film Awards performing ‘Heroes’ with the incredible Laura Mvula. As an internationally renowned British institution, it’s a huge honour to be performing there. This song was inspired by film scores and theme songs so I’m looking forward to showcasing what British music has to offer in front of the world’s film industry elite.”

Laura Mvula added: “I’m really excited to be opening the show with Tinie Tempah – especially as it’s been such an amazing year for film. It’s definitely a bit scary when I think about who will be there but we’re going to put everything into the performance and it’s a big song so it really lends itself to film.”

The EE British Academy Film Awards will take place on 16 February at The Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden. Stephen Fry will be returning to host this year’s ceremony, which will be broadcast exclusively on BBC One in the UK and in all major territories around the world. On the night, www.bafta.org will also feature red carpet highlights, photography and winners interviews, as well as dedicated coverage on its social networks including Facebook (/BAFTA), Twitter (@BAFTA / #EEBAFTAs), Tumblr and Instagram.
