The nominations for the British Academy Television Craft Awards have been announced.

London, 24 March 2014: The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has today announced the nominations for its annual British Academy Television Craft Awards, which honour the very best behind-the-scenes talent from television. This year’s ceremony will be held at The Brewery on Sunday 27 April, and will be hosted once again by Stephen Mangan.

A diverse range of programmes compete in each category for the coveted BAFTA masks. Leading the way with six nominations is BBC Two’s gangster family epic , featuring Cillian Murphy and Helen McCrory.

ITV’s follows closely with five nominations, starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman as the officers investigating the murder of a young boy in a small coastal town, whilst Channel 4’s thriller, Utopia, receives four nominations.

With three nominations apiece are: Doctor Who drama , Sky 3D’s , and crime dramas and .

A number of programmes have two nominations each: documentary series , an awe-inspiring journey through the world’s wildest continent; , portraying the final public appearance of Hollywood’s most glamorous couple; following the lives of a jazz band in aristocratic 1930s London; , depicting the untold story of Leonardo Da Vinci; , an intimate portrait of the performer during the key years of his career; observational documentary Educating Yorkshire which filmed the lives of staff and students at a Yorkshire secondary school; and long-running motoring show .

Graham Linehan receives two nominations in the Writer: Comedy category - the first for , and the second for with his co-writer Steve Delaney. James Corden and Mathew Baynton receive their first writing nominations for , in which they also star. Completing the category are Sam Bain, Jessie Armstrong and Tom Basden for .
Nominated in the Writer: Drama category are Chris Chibnall for ; Dominic Mitchell for ; Sally Wainwright for ; and Dennis Kelly for .

On 20 March, BAFTA announced that Saturday night entertainment show Strictly Come Dancing will receive the BAFTA Special Award at the Television Craft Awards ceremony. The behind-the-scenes crew are being awarded in recognition of the outstanding creative and technical teamwork that delivers consistently high-quality live entertainment and celebrates the past ten years of production.
