BAFTA today confirms that global popstar Lewis Capaldi will perform live at the BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises taking place on Sunday 14 May. In a first TV exclusive, Lewis will perform his stunning new piano anthem-in-waiting, Wish You The Best, which will broadcast on BBC One and iPlayer.

Emma Baehr, Executive Director of Awards and Content at BAFTA, said: “We're delighted to welcome Lewis to the BAFTA stage for the first live performance of his chart-topping single. It will be a magical moment as two powerful entertainment mediums come together to create a captivating performance. Audiences at home and in the room will be in for a treat, and we can't wait to end this year's awards season in style."

Selling over 10 million copies worldwide, Lewis’ debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent propelled Capaldi from bedroom musician to superstar. Few have seen a debut release quite like it, becoming the biggest selling UK album of 2019 & 2020, spawning two UK number 1 singles, bagging a few BRITs and a Grammy nomination, with one of those number 1’s becoming a smash hit on both sides of the globe in Someone You Loved, which recently became the UK’s most streamed song of all time.

Having recently taking on his 2023 UK & European arena tour which sold out in a matter of seconds, and now embarking on his biggest ever sold-out headline tour of North America, Lewis will headline Reading & Leeds Festival in August, perform at Glastonbury Festival, as well as play his biggest headline summer shows to date to over 30,000 fans a night in Manchester & Belfast, as well as two nights in Edinburgh.

The brand-new single follows the recent release of Lewis’ special, raw and honest feature length music documentary Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now, in partnership with Netflix, BMG, & Pulse Films - which shot straight to the top of the Netflix chart, making it the most watched film on the platform since its release.

The BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises are the biggest night in the television calendar, recognising the incredible quality and variety of television that was enjoyed in 2022, with shows such as This Is Going to Hurt, The Responder, Bad Sisters and The Crown leading the nominations.

The BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises will be hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan and will be broadcast on BBC One and iPlayer on Sunday 14 May at 7pm. Ahead of the ceremony, the public can tune into Clara Amfo and Michelle Visage live from the red-carpet on BAFTA’s YouTube, bringing viewers even closer to the action.
