Omar Sharif

An Egyptian actor who found fame with an unforgettable performance in David Lean’s Lawrence of Arabia (1962) as Sherif Ali, with Sharif earning an Oscar nomination for his performance. The role elevated him to immediate stardom, and he followed it up with two defining leading roles in Lean’s Doctor Zhivago (1965) and William Wyler’s Funny Girl (1968).
