An American writer whose first produced work was Stacy’s Knight (1983) starring a young Kevin Costner, it was Costner who advised Blake to turn one of his ideas into a novel. Costner directed the novel’s adaptation, Dances With Wolves (1990), for which Blake received a BAFTA nomination and an Oscar win for his adapted screenplay.
