A British comedian who found fame on the talent show Opportunity Knocks (1967), Starr’s career skyrocketed after showcasing his talent for impressions at the Royal Variety Performance in 1970. He became a regular television fixture over the coming decades, bringing his anarchic humour to shows including Jokers Wild (1971-1973) and The Freddie Starr Variety Madhouse (1979).
