A British actress, whose lengthy career in the arts spanned back to the 1950s, where she played a key part in setting up the Royal Exchange theatre in Manchester. While best known for her theatre work, she did notch up almost 100 screen credits. Her most notable work includes Carrie’s War (1974), George & Mildred (1976-1979), Rosie (1977-1979), Wilde (1997) and Waking the Dead (2003). She also starred in several one off filmed-for-television Play for Today style programmes over the years.
