BAFTA/Jonathan Birch
BAFTA is globally renowned for celebrating excellence and championing creativity through its Awards, but many people are unaware of the breadth of the Academy’s charitable learning and education work.
Every year BAFTA delivers a wide range of programmes aimed at finding new creative talent and nurturing and inspiring people to build careers in the film, games and television industries, particularly those from under-represented groups. This work is made possible by BAFTA Patrons, the Academy’s circle of supporters who are passionate about supporting new and unheard voices and ensuring the screen-based industries are open to all.
As a thank you for their generosity, we invite Patrons to a series of unique events throughout the year including Academy Circle Q&As and receptions, panel discussions and preview screenings. Taking place at a range of special venues, including BAFTA’s redeveloped headquarters at 195 Piccadilly, these offer a behind-the-scenes insight into the work of BAFTA and the wider industry and a chance to connect with like-minded individuals. Each event is an opportunity to be inspired and entertained by the extraordinary experience of leading industry professionals, from actors to directors, designers, cinematographers and beyond.
Past guests have included Chiwetel Ejiofor, Gillian Anderson, Riz Ahmed, Martin Freeman, Eddie Redmayne, Ralph Fiennes, Imelda Staunton, Dev Patel, Barbara Broccoli, Julie Walters and Paul Greengrass, as well as exciting emerging talent from BAFTA’s initiatives such as Breakthrough and BAFTA’s bursary and scholarship programme.
With huge thanks to all our Patrons and supporters for making our work possible.
