Regina’s breakthrough project is feature film Dreamers.
A life lived across countries, cultures and languages has shaped Regina’s instinct for character. Born in Botswana and having lived all over the world, Regina speaks four languages giving her a rare ability to connect with people across cultures and productions. Drawing on her experiences of living globally, Regina brings nuance and care to her transformation of characters. Those that work with her as a Designer truly feel heard, both on screen and within the production team.
Regina had a fascination with performance and the screen industry from a young age but it was seeing a ‘behind the scenes’ segment about hairdressing that ignited her interest in the world of Hair and Make Up Design. Pursuing a career in the television and film industry became her dream and telling stories every day through her characters and giving life to the images she visualises is something Regina finds deeply fulfilling. This passion and love for her craft is evident when she describes her breakthrough project Dreamers as “one of the most meaningful creative experiences of my career”.
In her own words…
“Beginning my journey in a hair salon helped me translate these qualities into my professional life where I learnt the importance of understanding every individual’s needs, expectations and relationships with their appearance. This is just as important as the technical skill itself…
“Designing feature film Dreamers has been one of the most meaningful creative experiences of my career. It required me to consider the complexities faced by detainees in immigration centres, where loss of everyday freedoms and self-care items shaped my Hair and Makeup design. I focused on cultural, social, and economic realities, showing how limited access to resources impacts personal identity.”
