Miles Gardin grew up in the Valley of Los Angeles, California and is majoring in Film and Media Studies at University of California, Irvine. He said: “Having worked with BAFTA as an LAUSD intern and having a remarkable experience during my internship, I was also interested in the prospects of continuing my relationship with BAFTA and its members that I look up to.”

Miles has wanted to be a Director, Producer, and Writer since he was child, when he was first captivated by visual storytelling. He has already started creating and producing his own films, including his High School thesis film “Murphy’s Law”. And has directed a Public Service Announcement that won first place regionally at Directing Change in the category of Suicide Prevention and first place at the New Media Category at the AME Film Festival.

He said: “The collaborative nature of these jobs also excites me – to meet all kinds of people I would never otherwise and to work with talented individuals across various disciplines in the industry.”

The person in entertainment that Miles looks up to is director Barry Jenkins. Miles is inspired by how Jenkins explores themes around identity and human connection and hopes to one day do the same in his own work in the future.
