(He/Him)

Harry’s breakthrough credit is the scripted television series G’wed.

Harry Gilbert has truly had a Breakthrough year with two major projects coming to fruition. In February, his first TV show as casting director, G’wed, was broadcast on ITV, and in September his first feature film, Reawakening (distributed by Signature), starring Jared Harris and Juliet Stephenson, was released in UK cinemas.

Harry got his break in the industry as a casting assistant to Sarah Trevis in 2019, herself a former associate of Mary Selway, meaning he’s been learning his trade from British casting royalty. His “elephant memory” is a gift for casting established actors while his keen eye for unique potential has allowed Harry to excel in discovering new talent. This is most clearly evident with G’wed, the Liverpool-set sitcom with five of the seven main actors featured having had no previous professional on-camera experience. Harry’s faith in the mostly teenage cast paid off, with the series becoming ITV’s most successful sitcom launch since 2020.

Most recently, Harry co-cast the upcoming series Truth & Conviction (Angel Studios) with Sarah Trevis and was her associate on Lockerbie: A Search for the Truth (Sky/Peacock), both due in early 2025.

In their own words…

“I’m hugely honoured to be part of this year’s BAFTA Breakthrough. It’s only in the last 10 years that casting has been given the public recognition it deserves and this feels like another step forward… I loved the creative challenge G’wed presented: I strongly believed that discovering new talent was the key to elevating the already fantastic writing… I’m excited to spotlight the work I have done, make new connections and build my voice in the industry.”
