Brian Wilde

Actor
12 June 1927 to 19 March 2008

An acting career spanning more than 50 years produced not one but two characters that fixed Wilde in the public consciousness. He was dithering prison officer Mr Barrowclough, forever hoodwinked by wily lag Fletcher, in Porridge (1974-1977), and the pompous Foggy in Last Of The Summer Wine (1976-85 and 1990-97).
