Hungarian-born playwright Tabori dealt with moral complexities in his work. For the cinema he scripted Alfred Hitchcock's I Confess (1953), Anatole Litvak's The Journey (1959) and Secret Ceremony (1968) for Joseph Losey, while his play, Leo the Last (1970), was adapted for the screen and directed by John Boorman.
