Most readily identifiable for his recurring role in the popular soap opera Crossroads (1970-79), Stapley was a versatile actor equally at home on the stage as the screen. His other television credits include The Adventures of Robin Hood (1955-56), Ivanhoe (1958), The Benny Hill Show (1978-85) and Number 10 (1983).
