A frequent guest star on American TV series from the 1960s onwards, Slate will be best remembered for cult biker movies The Born Losers (1967) and Hell's Angels '69 (1969) the latter of which he also wrote. His other feature credits include Girls! Girls! Girls! (1962) and True Grit (1969).
