From his early experience directing live television, Sheppard segued into producing documentaries for World In Action (1967-73). He subsequently contributed to natural history strand Disappearing World, history series End of Empire and produced Sgt Pepper: It Was 20 Years Ago Today (1987), an acclaimed film about The Beatles’ seminal album.
