A Yale classics professor who scored a global hit with the screen adaption of his novel Love Story (1971), Segal influenced several other areas of popular culture. He wrote a sequel, Oliver’s Story (1977), was a screenwriter on Yellow Submarine (1968) and also scripted The Games (1970) for Michael Winner.
