A prolific, Emmy award-winning director who honed his craft in television, Rosenberg's finest feature was Cool Hand Luke (1967). In addition he enjoyed critical and/or commercial success with The April Fools (1969), The Drowning Pool (1975), The Amityville Horror (1979), Brubaker (1980) and The Pope of Greenwich Village (1984).
