A diminutive character actress most closely associated with Jimmy Perry and David Croft comedies, Pugh appeared in various guises in Dad's Army (1974), It Ain't Half Hot Mum (1976) and Hi-de-Hi (1986). She was later given a recurring role as Lady Lavender in Upstairs Downstairs spoof You Rang M'Lord (1990-93).
