Filmmaker
An influential filmmaker whose work often reflected issues within the Maori community, Mita found her forte in documentary. She co-directed Bastion Point: Day 507 (1980) and in making Patu! (1981) became the first New Zealand woman to direct a feature documentary. Most recently she co-produced the acclaimed feature Boy (2010).
