A larger than life character off-screen as well as on, Millais enjoyed fleeting fame through his contributions to films such as McCabe and Mrs Miller (1971) and Images (1972). Later film appearances came in The Dogs of War (1980), The Wicked Lady (1983) and Chicago Joe & The Showgirl (1990).
