An American blues singer who initially found success in Europe, Mercer made her film debut soon after this in Le Glaive Et La Balance (1963). She had a cameo in The Hell With Heroes (1968) and more substantial roles in The Beguiled (1971), Dirty Harry (1971) and Pretty Baby (1978).
