A familiar, mournful presence on British television, Melody appeared in multiple guest roles on both Coronation Street and Emmerdale. He also starred in sitcoms such as Just Jimmy (1964-66), Down The Gate (1975-76), Rule Britannia (1975) and Last Of The Summer Wine (1983, 2003) and in the film Yanks (1979).
