A proud member of the Oglala Sioux tribe, Means was a fierce advocate for Native American rights who found great success when he turned to acting. He portrayed Chingachgook in The Last of the Mohicans (1992), appeared in Natural Born Killers (1994) and voiced a role in Disney’s Pocahontas (1995).
